I bought this machine in the UK in WH Smiths, not sure where you are but... the manual says the player is region 2 locked, but I was able to play region 1 discs on my machine straight from the box with no need for codes, I tried it on several discs, and also used dvd decrypter to check the region coding of the discs (in case there were all region). So just try a region 1, it should work, or maybe I just got lucky?

Thats cool mate, this thread got me thinkin about region free, and after an hour of hunting I found the region free code for my philips DVD625, so now that is region free too, yay! Glad I could help
