I have a hard drive from an old computer that I set up as a slave on my new computer because it just wouldn't boot up anymore. I'm trying to access email addresses from outlook express and can't seem to find them. I would like to export them and then import into my new email. Is there a certain file extention I should be looking for?
I recently done a simular thing with outlook on my Vista machine, i copied the existing emails from one drive to another. They were located in a .pst file locates in C:\Documents and Settings\my user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. (You will have to enable Hidden and System files and show file extensions). I dragged and dropped the .pst file to the same location on the primary drive and all my mails were there when i opened Outlook, (i renamed and moved the old one to my desktop just in case it did not work). Not sure if it is the same with outlook express but i imagine the location will be simular, i had no names in my address book so i am not sure if they are included in the .pst file If this is what you are looking for you may be able to use the import feature to see if it picks it up in outlook express or do the same as i did. hope this helps a bit.
moved to correct forum as not a pc hardware issue. as it appears you are using windows xp or earlier you need to look for ".wab" file. look for your address book thru windows explorer for C:\Documents and Settings\my user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address. can also use search to look for "*.wab"
Thanks. I found the files but there are no addresses in it. Come to find out they (my parents) were using incredimail. Now I really have no idea how to find these addresses. Thanks anyways.
