everytime i turn on my computer and get to the desktop everything loads fine except i get a cmd prompt error saying "sleep.exe" so i click ok and my firefox opens and constantly opens new tabs with the page saying "cannot find tprints.net", the only way i can stop this is go into task manager, proccesses, and end cmd.exe. but i have to do this everytime i turn on my computer. is there any way to completely stop this? im pretty sure its not a virus or anything as i scan my computer reguarly.

    How To See Hidden Files:
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Double-click on the My Computer icon.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
After the new window appears select the View tab.
Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Now that you know how to see all hidden files on your computer, malicious programs such as viruses, spyware, and hijackers will no longer be able to hide their presence from you or people helping you.

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

Are you using this count down program? (PhanTim3)

We're getting there. To save space. Use the page Edit and remove all old log reports. Just delete all of it and leave only the word EDIT in it's place. I'm looking at possibly removing 4 to 6 more entries after this. I'm researching them now.

Google search not finding any information for fixing or removing sleep.exe. Let's see if we can find it in your computer. Start> My Computer> Search> All files and folders> All or part of the file name> type, sleep.exe. Any results?

Try running this program as well, sometimes fixes WinXP issues. Start> Run> type, sfc /scannow

C/Windows/vss? That's all it said? Need the full extension to help locate in registry. Better try system restore to bring it back and find out what it says. Don't delete, yet. May make it harder to fix or remove.

C/windows/PSS. PSS, not VSS, sorry bout that. As for the file name, it was something like COMMON sleep.exe STARTUP.

OK, let’s try finding it. We’ll start with looking in startup. Follow this path: Start> Run> MsConfig> click on the startup tab. Look though this list for it.
Next, we’ll look in registry startups. Start> Run> type, RegEdit.
Expand Hkey_Local_Machine> Software> Microsoft> Windows> Current Version> Run. Also check, Run Once. Located directly before Run. close and open.
Expand Hkey_Local_Machine and open Hkey _Current_User> Software> Microsoft> > Windows> Current Version> Run. Also check, Run Once. Let me know if you find it.

    Handle to Registry Key (HKEY)

All I found was programs that regularly start up with my comp.

I'm not sure if we're looking for the "sleep.exe" file.

There is just something that commands my computer to look for sleep.exe at startup and can't find it. Therefore I get the command prompt error.

EDIT: I haven't tried using sfc /scannow yet, since I am too lazy to whip out my old XP cd. I will later though, hopefully it'll fix the problem.
