Hi all, does anyone know of any issues with the play back of Sleepy Hollow after compression on a stand alone DVD player?

I made a back up using DVD Decrypter and compressed and the burnt the image using DVD copy platinum onto a maxell disc. I was given no errors during any operation. The DVD will play on my PC but will not play on my stand alone DVD player.

Does anyone know if there is a way of setting or even looking at the settings/size of image that DVD Copy uses to compress the main movie only and then fit to disc?

From reading other forums I have downloaded DVD Fab Decrypter and DVD Shrink I have backed up some of my discs using these programs and remember somewhere that it is advisable to set the disc space required to 4300mb! to avoid burning close to the edge?

    Thanks for your help folks

What media did you use to burn it with, and was it -R or +R? Some standalone players will not play all formats, you might want to check your manual on that question.

If you booktype to DVD-ROM you will never have that happen again, unless you are not using quality media. However, your burner needs to be able to booktype, not all have that capability, and you can only booktype +R media.

Use Quality Media; avoid Memorex-CMC, get the good "stuff": Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Verbatim, Ricoh or other top name products.

thanks for the reply sytyguy, In answer to your questions I am using MAXELL Discs -R. My stand alone DVD player is a DVD recorder and supports -R disc.

I backed up my original again last night but this time I used DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD Shrink and finally DVD Decrypter and it works fine now.

It seems each time I have a problem I have used the programs DVD Decrypter to write the .ISO image and then DVD Copy 4 to compress and burn the image? I am starting to believe that DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD Shrink and finally DVD Decrypter is the more reliable method, what do you use and recommend?

Thanks for the time you took to reply.

    Cheers

Here's my sequence of ripping/burning, DVD Decrypter (file mode), Menushrink, VobBlanker(extensive editing with this program, eliminate ads, warnings, misc. items, documentary, some previews...usually eliminates 1-3GB of crap), then Nero's Recode2, which transcodes, and burns.
And when I have time, or I could not get compression reduced to acceptable levels, I use DVD Rebuilder with CCE Basic.

    Happy burning,

    Rich
