Let see here . . . Nero Ultra Version 7

Nero Vision . . . no problems here.

I can create a slide show, add effects, titles, etc.

    Test run is awesome.

    Burn to . . . tsst corp cd/dvdw/ TSH552U . . . which is my CD/DVD burning drive.

    Works fine.

When I try and play this slide show in my Panasonic DVD player nothing happens.

What am I missing here? Format?

    Thanks . . . Rick

    Hi RickinRSM
What brand of media are you using like Sony 8x +R?

    Burn speed used?

Does it playback in the pc?

    I'm using Maxell DVD+R 8x

It plays perfectly in the PC.

My Panasonic DVD player says . . . "cannot read disk type . . . please insert a different disk."

Burn speed is auto . . . I think. I've never looked at it.

This DVD player is not that old.

    What do you think?

    Thanks . . . Rick

    . . . ps. Binkie . . . that's cute.

    Okay Binkie . . . further progress.

    I recorded on a Sony DVD+RW a 2x speed.

This will play on my Panasonic but all of the picture slide transitions are very jerky, not smooth at all. How can I fix this?

If I can correct this, then I will want to add music and dialog to describe the slides.

Are music and dialog TWO separate procedures to add to the slide show?

    Thanks much . . . Rick

    @RickinRSM
    Well some progress :)
The latest firmware version for your drive is US07 - update to that if the drive's firmware is not up to dat.
    Here's a link:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2011

Or you can use Samsung's live update:
    http://www.samsungoms-europe.com/samsung.php?section=download

For the fixing the jerky bit - if it's not jerky playing the dvd in the pc then the player is more than likely the culprit. Players can be picky with the type of media they like.
To fix it only way I know is to burn the project again.
Take the Maxell's down to 4x.

Adding the music & dialogue - can't be of much help - I'e only used SlideShow a few times just doing jpegs and I think some music.

    Hi Binkie . . .

I'm not sure what fiimware does. Will it automatically ungrade my DVD drives in some way?

I used the Samsung site, downloaded the firmnware, upgraded the firmnware, but I don't notice that anything happened.

    Any explanations here for me?

As for the jerkiness, I'll try the Maxell at 2x.

    Thanks Binkie . . . Rick

    Hi RickinRSM
It only takes a minute to flash/update your drives firmware - you won't notice anything but you should get a pop up saying to reboot. Once you reboot the firmware will be updated.

The firmware tells the drive how to read/write different types of media by the media codes. Keeping this update helps the drive write to the media with the proper write strategy. it can sometimes unlock featurers of your drive.
For the Maxell may just want to try 4x.

Check the manufacturer on them and see if the firmware updated. Pop a blank in the drive then go to Nero ToolKit>Info Tab. The drive tab has a field for the firmware version - click on the disc tab and the manufacturer of the Maxells should be listed.

    Hi Binkie . . .

I was able to update my firmware. It worked well with no problems.

    Everything seems okay now.

Next, on to add the music.

    Thanks again . . . Rick
