Slight Delay in finished VCD!

    Hello all,

    I am new to the world of VCD creation however have found this website very helpful. It was either learn how to create VCD's are buy a new 160GB Hard Drive.

    So i decided to learn how to create VCD's

    Anyways, my problem is this,

    I have created my vcd's with no issue, however when i burn them to CD there is a slight delay in the audio, only a second or so, just enough to give you the shits!

    I checked the original source played on computer and there isnt any delay in the audio, it seems that there is only a delay when i burn the VCD and then play it on my DVD player.

    I use the latest copy of Nero as i was told to use that one and can only think that there is where the problem lies. I recorded the cd at a max speed of 4 and everything seemed to work fine, even did a test burn before i did the proper burn!

    Any ideas of how to fix this?

    After you have burned them to a cd did you check them in a computer afterwards and see if the sound is in sync?

    If you did and it was out on the computer aswell then what media are you using?

    what software do i need to play VCD on computer?

    What ever it is i dont think i have it!

    If there is a delay what do you suggest?

    I am using TDK CDR 700MB disks and recorded them at 4x

    If the audio is already out then there isn't much you can do really. Its a bit strange alright but i think it might be the cd-r media you are using.

    so there is no reason for the audio to be out of sync with video, if the original file is all perfect, however after i burn it there seems to be a very slight delay in the audio,
    this could be due to the media that i am using? any suggestions as to what media is the best to use to create VCD's as i have a heap to create and i dont want to keep wasting cd's if they are not going to work!

    Memorex gold are the best for me but just slightly on the dear side. Also out of sync problems can be caused by other processes running during any encoding process or stream treatement of some kind!

    it seems to work fine on the computer

    so i am going to try and possible change the audio settings on my computer and see if that helps!

    it seems to be working perfectly now though

    so i dont know what happened earlier, however i have notived that CD2 has started from where it is suppose to,

    now i noticed a considerable wait for TMPGenc to start encoding the 2nd part of the movie as compared to when TMPGenc encoded the 1st part.
    1st part was straight away
    2nd part took a few minutes before it started to code the mpg.

    what are your suggestions for this one?

    well thats actually a tmpgenc problem that i have experienced in the past too! TMPGEnc juts has problems when things are incomplete or something like that and often screws up!

    is there a solution or a better program i should be using?

    everywhere i have gone they say to use TMPGenc though

    for vcd, unfortunately, tmpgenc is the best to use, for svcd, Cinema Craft Encoder (very dear though).

    I am having the same problem! Dowsn't matter what I encode with. When I play it on my dvd player, the sound is a bit off. When I play it back with WinDVD, Media Player, or my Laptop DVD player, it is perfect BUT not on my stand alone DVD player.

    It's gotta be the player. It supports vcd and svcd but WHY is the sound a little off?

    Try not to burn faster than 4x! Also you must choose good cd-r media for most dvd players!

    im agree with DELA , use better speed, better cdr or better burning software .

    the problem is not with the file.

    Just to dig my oar in...

    That is not a fault with TMPGEnc, it just need a litle while to seek through the .mpg file before it starts putting the audio and video together in sync for your 74 minute VCD, so it is quite normal.

    Thanks Guys.

    I burn at 4x so the only other thing to try is to use better media. Like I said, it only happens on my stand alont dvd player (Norcent LHNT-2000). When I play the same disk in windows media player or my laptop DVD player, it is sync perfect!

    I use TempGenc, Vegas Video, and Panasonic and get the same result, so it seems more and more like its the DVD player.

    I am trying to find a friend with a DVD player that plays VCD so I can see if it just my cheap-o dvd player.

    A thought just occured to me. Perhaps the reason it plays in your PC OK, is that it is an .mpg file, but not a totally VCD compliant .mpg file, which is why it does not run perfectly in your standalone. I have not tested the theory, but make sure that you are selecting MPEG-1 Video-CD on the drop down menu below Merge and Cut in the MPEG tools (That is the bit you use to cut the big .mpg file into two files)

    Give it a go.

    One last thing to check is the documentation of your stand-alone, look and see if it plays VCD1.1 or VCD2.0. Nero creates 2.0, if the dvd player is not exactly brand new then it could have support for 1.1 only. VCDEasy, will create 1.1 for you if you need it.
