    Hi guys,

The burner on my laptop finally gave out, so I decided to order a new drive. However, I made the mistake of ordering a slim SATA DVD-burner instead of a PATA burner, and now I can't return it back. It is brand new, but it won't fit into my PATA slot. I've tried looking online for a slim SATA-to-PATA converter, but most what I've found were PATA-to-SATA ones.

    I have found, however, This

Can anyone tell me whether these are the correct converters I should be getting?

If not, can anyone point out the correct ones for me to purchase, if there are any? I can't afford a new laptop right now, so this is my only option.

    Realistically, you are SOL.

That adapter is designed for putting a PATA slimline optical drive into a desktop computer with a SATA interface.

AFAIK, there are no adapters designed to do what you are trying to do.

Your best bet is to purchase the right drive, then sell the wrong one.

You need to purchase a drive with the correct faceplate and form factor as well, otherwise the replacement drive will never fit properly.

Another option would be to purchase a USB enclosure for a SATA optical drive and run it externally, but the cost would probably be same/same.
