slow encoding

I used to be able to encode using dvd shrink in a few minutes but lately its been taking up to an hour or more. Why?

 

check to see if your drive is in dma mode

Checked the drive it was on P/O. Did it change from dma? Becauase like I said before it used to encode a dvd in a few minutes, then it just slowed to crawl overnight.
