    Hi all,
I have Nero 6 (updated to latest) and I'm trying to convert my DVDs to MP4 but it is taking a long time. For example, a 45-minute clip is taking 9 hours to go from DVD to the built in CD quality. I am doing 2-pass conversion on a Pentium D 820 with 1GB memory running Windows XP MCE 2005r2. Is it normal to take this long? I've tried converting directly from the DVD as well as from a rip file of the DVD.

    Thanks,
    Ben

9 hrs seems a bit long. But there are many things to consider. For instance the quality of the original, The authoring on the original, Is it correcting errors in the layout structure it may be finding, What is the audio on the original. It also varys from disk to disk. You may get a 2 pass conversion of 9 hrs on this movie and then get a 4 or 5 hr on the next movie. To many things to consider to think of it in any set time frame. The only thing to check is make sure your dma is on. I say if the final outcome is good then there is nothing to worry about.
