Hi. I have spent the best part of the day trying to solve this and am ready to pull my hair out, so if anyone can help, ill be very grateful. Ive just bought a Memup Kobalt External USB 2 Dual Layer DVD writer, and an Origin Micro (o2 Cardbus) USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card (NEC chipset) , as i only have USB 1.1 ports in my laptop originally. But AAARRGH!! Can I hell get it to work... XP picks up everything fine and installs everything from the cds and everything is hunky dory, til i try to copy an ISO to the drive (say with DVD Decrypt). Even with a chosen speed of 4x, the write rate stays at around the 0.4x mark, sometimes heading up to a blisteringly fast (not) speed of 0.6x. Now here for the strange part: If i move the mouse, the speed increases slightly, to the extent that if i repeatedly wiggle the mouse, the speed will get up to 4x... and when i stop --- it slowly trickles back down to 0.4x... HELP If anyone has encountered similar problems with one of the devices i have please let me know how you solved it, or indeed, if anyone can see something im missing, please PLEASE... help me
oh n by the way, it aint just a mouse thingy, i could have a search running in the background and it`ll do the same...
