i am backing up cabin fever its taking 2.6hrs just to encode is this normal time? using shrink and nero for this one then buring takes a good 1.2 hrs? seems like all my back ups take for ever!!!!useing a dimension 8200 dell. with external burner nec nd100a
Hi born2ride Well if the burner is the NEC ND1000A then that burn time may be close depending on how it's connected to the pc. Using 2.0 or 1.1 usb hub? Not familiar with the specs on your dell so how about the processor speed and amount of ram installed?
hmmmm running kinda low here on the specs - my guess is going to be that you have a 1.1 usb hub with those specs and quess of the age of the pc. So your times are about right. You could get a new usb pci card to upgrade to a 2.0 usb hub and cut the burn speed time down. Wouldn't really help the encoding part unless you are reading from the same drive (external nec) too. Maybe time to ask Santa :0) for a new pc for Xmas
thanks lol i hope santa will be that good to me. the pc is soooo slow i was ashamed to post the specs . thanks for the all the input!!!
No problemo born2ride No biggie on the pc specs - we all have different ones here - some slower some faster. They all accomplish what we need!
o it just dawned on me when i reread the post i was encoding from the external nec. normally i use the liton internal one silly me its just a hair faster.lately i have been issues with the lite on reAding dvds ,it just does not recognize the disc but dvd decrypter runs but still drive does not read? any thoughts?
Ok are you talking the LiteOn is having problems reading the original disc or a blank disc? May need a firmware update. What's the model and firmware version? To find it in Nero Smart Start go to InfoTool. Pick the LiteOn in the drop down. The model # will be listed. In the drive tab there is a field for the firmware version too. Did this LiteOn come with the Dell?
1 yes original dvd,#2 lite on came with dell.#3 model# dvdrom ltd163.#4 as for version cant find it in driver section?what will it say? i could not find update for firmware for this one either
Looks like the latest one for the Dell LiteOn is GDHJ. This might help if it's not up to date. Since it is older it may just be on the way out. Here's a link: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=96 You can pick up a LiteOn dvd-rom or combo drive pretty cheap at newegg.com You should meet the system requirements for those. Here's a pick to show where the firmware version is listed:
today both are on the screen maybe due to using the drive when checking it was not there. liteon is d drive a dvd rom and e drive is a nec burner.liteon version is gdhf just to let you know i started a other thread in newbies for a concern after firmware update from this site http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=96 i used gdhj rebooted and no drives present in my comp?
Ok did you try uninstalling the drive in device manager and reboot? You can post back in the other thread and we can go from there.
i dont wanna hijack this thread, binkie7 when ya get a chance could you look at my post here in this thread??? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/4/194247 sorry
