Do PSX games work with PS2? If not, what happens when you try to load one?

I ask because I'm trying to use GTA to boot CogSwap from my memory card, but the PS2 thinks it's an audio CD. So all I get is the chance to play mp3s, not fun.

So do I have a bad disc here? It is pretty old.

In theory, using the MC exploit, I should just be able to throw in my PSX game and it should boot CogSwap from the mem card, correct?

I think what paderickm is getting to is that the exploit was fixed for slim PS2s. If you have a chubby, it should work fine. Did you add the SLUS # from GTA in your title.db??

I would get a different PSX game and try it. First, pull the memcards and make sure the game loads properly. After you know it works, you should be able to use it as your trigger disc.

Must be the disc then because the (Fat) PS2 thinks it's an "Audio CD" when loaded without the mem card.

I'll grab a used game from the local shop. Thanks, guys.

Post back and let us know if it worked out for you. Oh...I've never seen a PSX disc recognized as an audio CD. Thats a new one for me. Rather strange too. What would happen if you were to play a track?
