smb thru xbmc help

    Help i am trying to network thru xbmc with smb. I have been thru all the tutorials and had it working... briefly . then XBMC froze every time i booted up . tried everything cant get it to work again
    i have it connected to a router and then it goes back wirelessly to my laptop. The ip of laptop is 192.168.1.101 xbox is 192.168.1.101 and my router is 192.168.1.1 i have tried all the possible combinations and i cant get it at all every combination just come up with enter password and username which i dont use

    have you tried going through workgroups?

    in XBMC there is a bookmark called workgroups. What this will do,is if your xbox is networked to your pc properly,(if you can ftp through XBMC then it is) then any folder that is shared on your winxp machine will show up in this bookmark. Providing you let it past your firewall....it's just an easier way to conect to it. Mainly it works the same as if you explore your network conections on two networks winxp PC's.
