I found this guide http://www.biline.ca/xbox-hd.htm , and was wondering if anyone has tried this way? It seems easier than useing xbhdmd and having to connect to a computer and go though all that. I have a stock xbox that I have soft modded with spilinter cell, and I was wanting to put a new 80gb hard drive into it. Thank You for your help.
I have a softmod xbox. The instructions seemed to indicate it will work with softmod. However, it doesn't recognize the boot disk that is created. There is another softmod method included with Auto-Installer Deluxe 2.11 (xboxhdm). I used it with some degree of success. It provides a utility for preparing the HD using a Linux boot CD and your PC. It created the new HD, which I was able to boot on my XBox to my new Dashboards, but when I try to launch games from the HD, they all freeze. Since this was the main reason for upgrading, I was not pleased.
