soft mod VS. hard mod

    what is the difference between a softmod and my mod (soldering a chip, HDD, bios, slayer). Just wondered

    i would search the posts as i see this question a lot.
    Really they do the same thing. But for Xbox live users a
    chip can be disabled, a softmod can't
    and you can not go on Xbox Live with a modded Xbox or you will
    be banned for sure.

    what is softmod and what is hardmod?

    a soft mod is a loophole in your xbox that allows you to run a modified dashboard,programs ect.a hard mod involves soldiering a modchip to allow you to do all that stuff.

    how would we find out what kind of mod we have
    (i got a used xbox, there is a stick on the bottom that says aladdin)

    aladin is a chip so thats a hard mod
