long story short, i soft modded my xbox with the splinter cell method and it worked great for a few months but one day all of a sudden it stopped booting my backed up games. so i try to run a factory game on it and it just freezes during the start up, i can't boot the games from either the evox dashboard or the M$ dashboard, they both freeze on their loading screens. the only thing that i can think of that had caused this was a bad burn i tried to boot (i hvae been having a lot of problems finding the right flash upgrades for my nec-3520aw dvd burner) and something really confused the system. I still have ftp powers but i am unable to boot anything. anyone have any ideas?

If the games start to load then freeze, it could be your CACHE. There should be a folder in "E:\" titled "CACHE". Just delete whatever is in there (usually just two small files). They sometimes get corrupted. You will not lose anything by deleting them.

no luck with the cache guess. everything still freezes up on the evox "your selection is loading" screen. by that i mean that it won't load the game but if i eject it, it will go back to the evox dashboard

Ok, I thought you meant the game actually started to load then froze.
Could it possibly be your DVD drive? That's a pretty common problem, the lasers sometimes get dirty or they just break for no apparent reason.

the lens cleaning didn't help a whole lot, not the games will boot like one out of four times and say that "teh disk may be dirty or damaged" while the disks aren't dirty or damaged at all. i don't think its the drive either becuase i can hear it running and it plays music cds just fine.
