i have a soft modded xbox. it worked just fine for about a year. yesterday it was even working perfectly fine. then today i just moved it from my basement t.v. to my room t.v. and turned it on, now it turns on and after like two seconds from being on it turns off by its self and then turns back on by its self, back off and back on again by its self. after it turns back on by its self the second time it stays on but the eject button flashes green and red. it doesnt show anything on the screen at all. not even when it stays on and flashes green and red. I really need help guys. i dont know what happend. after it stopped working i opened it and blew out dust and made sure all the cables were connected and it still does not work. thnx guys.
it didnt say anything on the t.v. it was just black screen. it didnt even say anything when it stayed on. it just had a black screen the whole time.
yah ive opened it but only when i was soft modding it and then i just barely opened it like 10 min ago. nope it doesnt show anything on the screen at all.
Look like your motherboard got problem. Open up your xbox. Hit eject button so the xbox turns on and dvd drive opens. Listen to hdd to hear if it spins. I just wonder if power supply has problems.
yah the hard drive is spinnin and the motherboard looks fine. but when i opened it and turned it on it did the same thing as it was doin before but before it shuts off by its self its flashing orange and green. and then when it turns on and stays on it starts flashing red and green again. is what it did before i opened it is it was just solid green and then it shut on and off then back on and then flashed red and green.
yah its the motherboard. im just going to switch it out with a mother board that i have from another xbox and see if that works. thnx for your help
k i just switched out the mother board. its working part way now. it now boots up normally like it should but after the green xbox logo that says microsoft under goes away then it gos to a screen that says error # 06. whats the prob with it now.
6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD If you understand the above, you should be able to understand what this means. It means you are trying to boot up the xbox with an harddisk that is locked in combination with ANOTHER motherboard than you are using it with right now. What can i do about it, you ask? Well place the harddisk back in the xbox where it came from. After that, UNLOCK the harddisk with the same procedure i explained above (see error 5). Now when the harddisk is UNLOCKED, put it in the xbox which gave you the error. Now when you boot up with the chip ON it should not give you an error anymore. However when you put the xbox on with the chip OFF your xbox will give you an error. (error 5) So to make sure you can boot original and boot with the chip ON. Next do the same as above: "Boot up your xbox with the chip on. Preferrably with a slayer evo-x cd. Now you choose "Eeprom management." Than you choose: "Lock hdd." It takes one second. After its ready it should say something like "Done" When it is ready just turn off your xbox. Disable your chip and try to boot original. Now there should be no more error.
since you switch the motherboard, you have to swith the hdd too. Because the current hdd only can unlock by dead motherboard.
gamer17 wrote i thought when it flashed orange and green it just means it is not detecting your AV cable? (the plug that goes to your tv) Make sure it clicks in when you push it. May sound stupid but I know a few peopkle caught out with this.
