All love the forums and have till now gotten everything I needed to soft mod and enjoy my new xbox.

The problem I have is I was trying to FTP thru a router with no success. My computer would never see the xbox.

So figuring maybe it was a router problem I went straight to the modem and tried to connect to xbl (on MS dash) the xbox just freezes when I push the A button...I have to reboot the xbox at that point.

Unleash X is the dash I installed and I followed the "how to" sticked in this thread.

Should I re-install the softmod with a different AID disc?

    TIA

    E

First things first make sure your hardware is working properly. Plug in your network cord into the router and turn on the xbox. It should have a blinkin green light in the back of the xbox and your router light should be lit.

If both of those are working then unleash x isn't gettin an ip address. Go to settings and look at your network, if there's an option to enable dhcp then do that and you should get an ip address.

After you softmod you should never select xbox live on your ms dash while it has a connection to the internet.

Try those things and let me know...If you haven't responded by the time i get home i'll take pictures for you and edit my post.

Checked the hard ware seems to be getting a signal as the light is flashing..

I see no dhcp enable but the box does have a static ip address listed.

Maybe you're more of a visual learner, i know i am.
    GO TO SYSTEM
    [IMG]

    GO TO SETTINGS
    [IMG]

GO TO NETWORK AND THEN YOU'LL SEE THIS SCREEN
GO DOWN WHERE IT SAYS TYPE, CHANGE IT TO DHCP
    [IMG]

BACK IN THE SYSTEM TAB GO TO MISC THEN TO RESET NETWORK
    [IMG]

everything should work for you after this, if it doesn't you have a bad setting in your router. You can connect to your router, it should be 192.168.0.1 or if you go to your network connection it should be listed as the default gateway.

Let me know if this helped you
