So, I decided to try to softmod and being a cheap a$$ (and also stationed in Baghdad) I didn't have access to any of the games to follow most the tuts on here. I have a v1.0 and a v1.6 that were both given to me "broken". Turns out it was just DVD drives on them, replaced and they work(ed) fine.

I found this - http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/softmod/57276-sofmod-free-cost-blank-cdr.html and it seemed pretty easy.

I'll keep it short, but the v1.0 (4034)could not complete, something about not enough disk space. Then I lost power while trying to figure out what to do. So, I move to the v1.6 (5838). Everything went fine this time until I tried to restart the Xbox...error 21.

I have since hot swapped and used Xplorer360 to repair my "partition 3" (is that C?) on both drives. I can boot them both and get to the dash and play disk games.

How can I return both HDD's to a factory state so I can start the process over again?

I may actually wait and order the stuff from the states this time? It will take a month, but its better than a bricked console.
I really would like to have a modded Xbox over here, games are $2!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks.

Since I have no alternate dash and if I go into xboxhd to try and do anything is errors out, looks like I'm making an eeprom reader.

Who has a warranty on the original Xbox? More to the point, he's in Baghdad...?

Ha, warranty? I dont think I have a valid warranty on ANYTHING I own?

But anyway, I used another method to resore the HDD w/o needing the eeprom. Restored and re-attempted the softmod. And I was finally able to boot into the UnleashX dash!!! There was very little there as I still got the out of space error. I did manage to get the eeprom off it though, YES!

I have since made a 160GB HDD using your tuts and all is well.

    Thanks for the help.
