softmod hard drive in unmodded xbox

    I have a softmodded original xbox hard drive. Know i have a unmodded xbox. Is it possible to install the soft moded hard drive in the unmodded xbox without modchips?

    Alex, yes it is possible to install a softmodded hard drive into an xbox, along long as you have the eeprom.bin file from the xbox that you are about to install to. The eeprom.bin file is an encrypted file stored on the motherboard that contians a locking code that the hard drive must be locked with. You need to softmod the original hard drive that came with the xbox and then use the backup option in evox and then get that file using ftp access. Once you do that, then you have to make a cd with the locking code on it and you must hook the hard drive up to your computer and lock it with the matching password that is on the motherboard. Look for the tutorial listed as " Xboxhdm for dummies". That will walk you through the locking part with the program xboxhdm1.9. Hope that helps.
