You should look around for XBOXHDM. With this app you can quickly rebuild a HDD from existing C and E drive files. As long as you can still boot up a game and play, I would look into using a softmod thru 007 or splintercell, and install a new dash, and obtain the eeprom file you need.

to use XboxHDM you need the eeprom to unlock the HD...without you cant use HDM...the only thing for you to do is try to hotswap and use xboxHDM to rebuild the drive or buy a modchip...

Ok I seem to be having the same problem... I just recently softmodded my hdd but lost my backup... Ok somehow my hdd became unlocked... now the xbox cant unlock the hdd becuase its not locked and I dont have the original backup to fine the eeprom password for my hdd... is there anyway to fix this without having to buy a modchip?

unplug ur IDE cables and reset them, if no go, u need modchip, if u lose ur eeprom or never retreived one, u pretty much will always need a mod chip

Yea well I hate to disagree... But I am and a modchip is not my last option... me and a Friend just mad an eeprom reader and found my key.... so there I win!

like i said without an eeprom, you cant fix it i didnt say anything about creating a eeprom reader to get your eeprom...what are you going to use to lock the HD back,XboxHDM should work perfect?
and if you listened to the people and read the tutorials none of this would have happened because you would have backed your eeprom up in the first place....
