i have a massive DVD collection and alot of space on my harddrive 80G + 250G external.... i am looking to take my dvd's and make them into the .7G - 1.5G AVI or vidx files. i have read many of the guides and they are helpful, however, certain programs take an unreasonable amount of time... some examples are DVDshrink thats a good 10 hours to rip a DVD and doesnt work on many of the movies i have tried.
i have used DVD decrypter and it is great, rips in about 20 mins but the file is still about 7G. put is through DVD2avi ~ 1 hour to TMPGEnc and it says 35 hours

i dont mind spending 50 to 100 bucks for some software that will work for my purposes and take about an hour

can anyone give any segestions or point me to a guide that i may have overlooked (pretty sure i read all realivant guides though)

do you want to store all your files in your hard drives or back them up to disk? if disk, can your stand alone dvd player read 'data' format or mpeg4? basically what that means is (and i personally do it this way) i make my files into data and put them as a data dvd. i can place upwards of 10 to 12 movies on a single dvd5 with no audio/video quality loss.
    just a suggestion.

that was exactly what i needed.... works like a charm.

DVD to VOB with Decrypter to Divx with DivxCreater.

i missed the promo but am using the 15 day free trial and am most definatly going to purchase after trial is up.

    thanks Rotary
