Hi folks, I am new here and am relatively new to creating, converting and burning DVD's. If I state how i'm creating DVD's could you offer any advice for better quality or functionability (is that a word?). I take a couple of downloaded .AVI files use DivXtoDVD to convert to .VOB then use TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 to make a DVD with a menu then burn to a DVD-r I need to have a menu for the DVD is there a better way of doing this and getting better pic quality? what software would give better? Many many thanks Nick
divxto dvd is easy to use but it doesnt do a great job of qaulity tmpgenc will convert your avis to dvd compliant mpegs and with the use of its inbuilt filters you can improve the quality of your dvds but always remember that the quality of those downloaded avis isnt always great, to coin an old phrase you cant make a silk purse from a sows ear
I cant seem to get TMPGEnc to make a dvd from an .avi download it says "This is an illegal video file for DVD standard you can only use MPEG-1 video or MPEG-2 video" then it says TMPGEnc does not have MPEG encoding ability How do I use tmpgenc to convert from .avi as you suggest? Ta
check this out http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/tmpgenc_basic_guide.cfm if you have not bought the full version then its mpeg 2 codeing ability is limited to the 30day trial period
I have read the guide but I have DVD Author 1.6 this is a different proggie isn't it? I need to be able to create DVD menus. Am I confused does tmpgenc 2.5 have menu facility built into it?
