software for cutting out commercials

    does anyone know of any software that makes cutting commercials out of recorded shows? i have a usb tv tuner and was just wondering if there is any easy way to remove the commercials. thanks

    try out the demo from videoredo plus. Thats the only program I use, haven't found a better program that works as well as this program. It has a commercial scan feature, that will scan the file for commercials and tag them so you can cut them out.

    Also there's also womble mpegvcr which I used before I found videoredo plus, it is also a frame accurate editor. But it's a very simple program that does work very well but doesn't have the commercial scan, and only works on mpeg1 and mpeg2 files.

    Both of the above programs remove commercials without reencoding the video, it takes less than 5 minutes to save a 2 hour edited file. The quality of the output is the same as the input file (no quality loss). And the edited video always stay in audio sync, something that is a problem when you use a program the reencodes the video.
