software for vista

    i need a free virus sweeper for windows and i dont wanna buy it cause i almost never use windows and i hate it so if it can just do a simple sweep im ok with it

    (the only reason i have it i need it for all the apps for windows)

    one little reservation with AVG.. I have seen certain trojans that it can't deal with. When it tries to quarantine or delete them they spawn more of themselves. Things from the "trojan-generic-downloader.xxx" series.

    I prefer avast free edition for this, and only this reason. AVG antispyware is also a must.

    the built-in software with Vista (windows defender) does a good job at anti-spyware.

    I'd strongly recommend these:

    1) Avast!
    2) Avira AntiVir® Personal Edition.
