here is a program if you can't remember your windows key for your windows on your computer or other software. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html now you don't have to bother other people for a windows key because you can find out what yours is.
Isn't that kind of illigal......I mean it might not be...but some1 can just go over a freinds house use that program get his/her key and use their disk and put it on your PC
BelArc advisor does the same, it gives you all the info about your PC. How can identifying your XP number be illegal? You paid for it, you are entitled to know what it is, esp if you do a re-format..

Knowing your key isn't illegal, trying to multi-install it on other peoples machines is. I wouldn't recommend it.
