software to save streaming media

    Can anybody suggest any software that I can use to record streaming media from websites? To clarify I want to record some sports events that are not televised but streamed in there entirety on betting sites, sports sites etc.
    BTW is there a standard format that media is streamed from websites.

    Try the mighty VLC (Video LAN Client)...
