Is it okay to use a 30 watt soldering iron for installation of modchip or is that too much... I thought I read somewhere that anything below 5o watts would be fine... but I just want to make sure before I start.
too big for the D0 point... unless you are very skilled at micro soldering at speed.. I use one for the pinheader and a 17 watt one for the D0 and the hdd/lan connections.
I got a 15 watt at the Radio Shack and used a dremel to grind the tip down to a point and it works perfect for the d0 point. Smaller gauge solder works better too if you are going with a lower wattage soldering iron. You might want to keep your 30 watt if you ever do soldering on bigger things though because my 15watt can't do anything with higher temp solder connections.
