I know some of you here like the way interlude's DVDCOPY3 encodes compressed Dvd's. But I was wondering how you use, or in what way to you rip with Clonedvd2 then encode with DVDCOPY3? What type of file do you rip to the hard drive with Clonedvd2? .vobs or an ISO image? My thinking is that aren't you compressing 2 times, buy doing it this way? Because I believe there is compression even at 100% with clonedvd2, and then to encode the resulting file to blank DVD with dvdcopy3 seems to be redundant? I guess I'm not clear on how this works...please explain.
CloneDvd2 doesn't include a ripper so dvd43 or Anydvd or Region+CSS Free would have to be used to rip a dvd. If you have any one of the rippers why not use it with DVDCOPY3 to begin with? I can't see how it would be helpful to process the dvd with both programs. You could rip the dvd with Decrypter then compress with DVDCOPY3, no need for a ripper then.
I know that, but there was a poster on these boards who stated that he rips (and you can rip with clonedvd2) with clonedvd2 to his Hard Drive, then he encodes to the Blank with DVDCOPY 3 because they feel this program gives better quality results after compression.... My question is how? Files or ISO? And wouldn't it be like backing up a backup, creating more overall loss in quality?
Clone2 cannot rip a copy protected dvd without a ripper running in the backround, simple as that. I rip with Decrypter in the file mode and compress with DVDCOPY3, so I know files will work. I'm not sure about ISOs. You can set Clone2 to output files without compression but it does process the files. I would expect there would be a loss in processing the backup twice with 2 different programs. I still fail to see the advantage in doing this
I just use Anydvd running in the background to rip with CloneDVD2. But anyway, that's what I thought....I did'nt see the need to encode 2 times...I
yes I saw that same post about Clone DVD and DVD Copy 3 and Any DVD and it confused me as well. However i did a little more browsing in forums and reading and have simply been using Clone DVD and Any DVD and in some instances I will use instead Shrink and Any DVD. I have totally put DVD Copy 3 out of my mind as it simply confused me and I alreay have bought Clone DVD and Any DVD and so I simply am going to use them. I felt the same way when DVD Copy 3 was mentioned, that compression was occurring twice and how could the quality of the backups be the best possible. Being a Noob, it became an unanswered question and so I simply decided to go with what I was comfortable with and what gave me the results that satisfied my needs and was useable on all of my standalone dvd players. IMO it is all in the eye of the beholder, whatever you like. Most of the encoders default to sharp settings. With Shrink you have the option of other quality enhancements. In Nero Recode2 you can set the quality enhancements but you have to do it through the regedit. By running it through twice you may see a little variation, but once you have compressed why do it again. I have tried various programs and usually stick with either Clone for movies with less action, and Recode for action pics because it produces a sharper image. But that is just my opinion and preference.
I can't find the other thread this is in reference to but I believe a poster was useing the editing features of clonedvd2 and then reencoding the folder with dvdcopy3. A much better way to edit is to rip with dvdd then edit with dvdremake which doesn't process the video TS's that are not removed and removes the video TS's that you don't want instead of replacing them with still pictures (although it can if you want to). mort, That's the poster I was thinking of. I don't have DVDREMAKE, but I wanted to use the editing features of Clonedvd2. But figured if I ripped to the HD and then used DVDCOPY3 I would basically be encoding twice. Unless I am missing something?
