    Hey,

I was in Game today and I noticed a nice little Gamecube to buy preowned for £40. Is this worth it? I am a big Mario fan, and the looks of all the Mario Party, Kart and stuff like Luigi's mansion looked great. So, my fellows :p, what should I do. Should I get this or not? And what game (preferrably pretty cheap lol)

Yeah, id say pick it up. Luigis Mansion was a fun game, but I couldnt have a Gamecube without Fire Emblem, Smash Bros Melee, and Tales of Symphonia.

personally, I hate gamecube. I would only recommend it to someone who is extremely immature or just obsessed with mario. i'd say go for an xbox or ps2, or maybe save up some money and get the xbox 360. my problem with gamecube is that all the games are immature. it's all donkey kong and mario tennis and crap games like that, which were popular back in the early 90s on the original nintendos. there's one reason game cube isn't rated well. i mean come on, we have some real technology now, look at games like call of duty 2 for xbox 360. game cube doesn't make any good ol' violent games, which brings me back to my point that they're immature. they'll always be that way, and that's why sony and microsoft's products will always be rated higher.

p.s. - don't plan on getting any games like the GTA game in your sig. nothing like that is made for GameCube (for obvious reasons)

hmm yea the resident evil series are really babyish i mean getting decapitated and sht is in every kids game now days.

but seriously every console has baby games correct me if im wrong but piglets big game was released for every console. but if you dont want it for kids games stick with meteroid prime, resident evil and all that sorta games

the reason i have the cube is to play fun games any way like this and all the other ones when i want to play serious games i just go on the PC and put on Battlefield 2 or Q4 anyway u can have ur PS2 but if the games are any good they always come out on PC like Halo and GTAs so yea since nintendo games are fun and good i just buy their consoles but for serious games in PC for me coz ur PS2 and Xbox cant even compare to my PC

Yeah, it's worth getting. The games may be "immature", but the console is still well worth having. Especially considering how cheap and easy it is to toss a chip like a Xeno GC, or Duo Q in it.

I mainly use my PS2, but, I wouldn't want to be without the GC. If for no other reason then for Metroid Prime (1&2) and Zelda. Those games are fun as hell, and well worth playing. Plus, my GF likes the console, and so do kids.

Get the Cube along with Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and/or Metroid Prime. Those should both be pretty cheap by now.

I got a PS2, DS and a PSP. Just wondering btw what mods can be done for the Gamecube and what price range?

And yes I would like to get the console for some of the so called "immature games", I quite like them lol.

    Cheers,

The price of modchips vary from about $15-55. I personally went the cheapest(at the time) route, and bought a Xeno GC ($20) and a Hushtrap Case ($20) and i've been more then happy with how it all turned out. If you check here http://iso420.pxn-os.com/ngc.htm there a bunch of reviews of all kinds of GC stuff(modchips, cases, etc.).

its worth it believe me and don’t buy X-Box or X-Box 360 most of their game are released on PS2 or PC so there is no reason to buy X-Box or X-Box 360 , I hope I helped you here and buy only PS2 & GC and upgrade your PC it will be enough to play whatever game you want

I have all three of the current gen consoles and love all of them. Hell, I still play my Dreamcast a few times a week because of all the shoot 'em ups.

Xbox is great for emulation and as a cheap, functional media center. It also has some good exclusives for it, even though they aren't that popular. Hell of a lot easier to get an Xbox working efficiently with a home theater system than it is with PC, especially since XBMC works so great.

I'd say for 40 bucks you shoudl do it. The metroids were really fun, and Super Smash Bros. Melee is still one of my favorites. Also, Twilight Princess will be playable on the GameCube when it comes out, and that thing's been in production for a zillion years.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my 'Cube, for what it's worth.

This doesn't pertain to what's being said here, but it's funny nontheless. I was just playing RE4 for Gamecube, and I was doing a speed run, and during the fight with Dos Gigantes, I shot a rocket at one of them, just as he picked me up. The wierd thing about it was, it did kill him, but I was stuck in his hand and melted away with him!!
Now the game is stuck at where I melted into and I can't reload or anything.

I also enjoyed the Wind Waker and Phantasy Star Online, because they were highly addicting games and really fun to play again. What was also cool about it was it was like the main console for most of the Sonic Team games that came out from Dreamcast, which was pretty cool.
It was totally worth getting a Gamecube, and I'm looking forward to getting a Wii as well.
