I'm using Winavi 6.3 Version and Nero 6 to burn. Sometimes, I find the DVD playable on my standalone DVD and sometimes it just don't. I have 2 dvd standalone DVD players. When it failed, one DVD player will show a message saying UNSUPPORTED. The other DVD player will play the disk (DVD-R MAXELL) but would be in black and white with the ends cut off like a triangle bordering on the bottom and sides of the tv screen. When I used Winavi 7.1, the dvds that I burned seems to be very jerky. The disks only plays on one DVD player and not the other DVD player. On the other DVD player that failed, it played for about 1 sec and then freezes. (My firmware on the other failed DVD is up to date) I'm using K-lite Codecs, Windows Encoder Series 9. I don't know what else it could be, but I do suspect it's the codecs, but just guessing on my part. I have uninstalled everything, removed relevant registry entries, and reinstall brand new all of the software related (winavi, codecs) but just can't get over this problem. I've used different codecs, replacing cole2k with K-lite and it doesnt solve the problem. I've replaced VSOTODVD program (or something like that) and the result is the DVDs appears jerky and plays only on my one DVD (identical to the problem I have when I was using WinAvi 7.1). At this point, I don;t know what else I can do. Any suggestion, deeply appreciated. Thanks!
follow up to my post. I don't think it's the DVDs that I'm using. Both DVD players have successfully played them on certain movies that I converted to DVD. I have a DMRE500 panasonic (the one that's failing on the winavi 7.1) and panasonic DVD S-35. As far as what type of burner I have, I'm not sure where to look...
HI there, I am having a similar problem, having backed up Batman Begins and Revenge of the Sith to Philips media. Both will not play on my Panasonic DMR-ES20DEB (getting 'unsupport'). I used AnyDVD and CloneDVD to back these movies up. Any help would be gratefully recieved!
