Im looking into buying a mod chip. Ive been asking around and come to the conlusion that the so far the Xecuter 3 is the best one. I have a few questions though.

1.)Should i get the xecuter 3 http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/xb-x3ce and does it have the on off switch thing, which im alos confused about?

2.) If i get the xecuter 3, should i get this http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/xb-x3cpb.html and with this does the on off swtich wire just hook up to the cp and you are able to turn it off/on using this panel?

3.) I am a nub at soldering, not just mod chips, but anyhting in general, how much soldering will be involved if i get this chip, and is there a chip that would work hookoed up to that cp that is just as good as the xecuter 3 with no soldering?

the x3 on/off switch is controlled by the power button on the xbox.

x3 on: quick tap of power button or just push the eject button
x3 off: hold the power button

there is a light on the external dipswitch that indicates whether the chip is on or off...blue=on red=off

you do not need the control panel...it is just a addon for people looking to go a little further with their mod...it does nothing the chip doesn't do...all you need is the chip, unless you want the look the control panel gives your xbox...except for it has a little lcd screen(which in my opinion is worthless, and people buy just for looks)

Alrite man thanks for the help, i wont go with that control panel, but if you recommned the xecuter 3, then i should get http://shop.system-mods.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=185 for it rite? because it has the on off switch.

ONe more question, what did you mean one tap, two tap, isnt the product at that link better for turning it on/off. can u tell if its on or off when you turn on your xbox, or can you never tell if you accidentally hit ur power switch or w/e. If you can tell, i will go with the produt at that link. How much, if any, soldering is involved here?

dude it is very simple...if you hold the power button down the xbox will boot with the chip off...if you just tap the power button the xbox will boot with the chip on...there is no external on/off switch...you use the power button on the xbox to turn the chip on/off...it is very simple...and you will have a light that will tell you if the chip is on or off...you don't need all the addon stuff...those are just extra things that you can buy, they are for looks only...but if you like the pro switch or control panel then get it...i am just telling you that i think it is a waste of money, especially since the xbox360 will be coming out shortly.

in my opinion the x3 is the best chip...i have had mine since they came out and have never once had a problem.

if you have never soldered before i would recommend going solderless(not possible for 1.6 xbox and x3) or having someone else solder it for you...i know a couple guys that live close to me that install modchips for $20.

if you wish to have someone else do the soldering, go to www.xbox-scene.com go to the forums, and at the bottom there is a forum for chip installers...just look through there and find someone close to you...i would almost gurantee that you could find someone within 30 miles of you...most people will install the chip for you for 20-40bucks.

1.) is it really difficult to solder?

2.) which installation is the best, the wire or the pin head?
    (maybe the easiest)

pinheader is the easiest...the soldering isn't too hard but there are 3 very tiny solderpoints that must be soldered...if you do it yourself use a 15w iron...just remember if you screw up the motherboard it is about a $70 fix to get a new motherboard and hd.
