Hi, I'm new here. I'm planning to buy a Nintendo DS with the Perfect M3 DS Real Bundle, but I want to know if there are any kind of drawbacks I should be aware of and how it is compared to others (like Cyclo Evolution for example). One thing in particular I wanna know about is about NDS <-> GBA linkage. I've looked around but I can't find a straight answer anywhere. Let me give you an example; say I have both Pokémon FireRed (GBA game) and Pokémon Pearl (DS game) on the same SD Card. With Pokémon Pearl, you're able to transfer Pokémon from FireRed onto Pearl if both game cartridges are inserted into the DS' each slot. But will this work on M3 DS Real, with both games being on the same SD Card? Thanks in advance, and sorry for my n00biness
I can't confirm 100%, but I doubt it'd be possible. Since the M3 only loads games one at a time, I don't see how it would know to read the right file on your card without it being loaded. Also, it's never been explicitly stated as a feature of the M3, so I don't see why they would include a feature like that without mentioning it, especially given all the extra programming that'd have to go into making it possible. However, if you have the real version of Fire Red (which is exactly what I have), it should work just fine.
Hi, and thanks for the reply =) I found something here on the Wiki: http://m3wiki.com/index.php/GBA_Linkage_Support_for_NDS_Roms So yeah, it does work, you have to do some stuff in order for it to work. Unfortunately it dosen't seem to support the Pokémon games which is pretty much the only thing I care about when it comes to linking GBA roms with NDS roms. Funny thing is that I asked in the comments section on a video on Youtube, and I was told it worked (He could have misunderstood the question though). My friend has a Cyclo Evolution card and he says it works with those games so I couldn't see why it wouldn't work on M3? Maybe the list on Wiki is outdated?
Ah, sorry my assumption was unfounded. I'm glad you found a solid answer for yourself though. I guess I have a lot to learn myself about the M3 Real. Hopefully they'll support it in future firmware updates, or maybe it already works and just nobody's tested it out. Maybe you could be the first? Good luck!
Don't worry about it. Anyway I wouldn't go as far as to say that I have a solid answer yet though. Well based on what I heard, it should work to transfer like the way I described, but I'm still not sure. And it's not really that big of a deal really I suppose, it's just hard to find retail GBA games nowadays. Maybe I'll ask in the M3 DS Real guide thread as well (which should be stickied by the way). Thanks.
