    1. I have a ton of verbatim DL DVD+Rs. Can you store picture files or data on a dvd+R? (I know they aren't re-writeable)

    2. I am unsure of the legality of this action, so I figured I would ask. I have heard that it is legal to copy DVDs that you own for your personal use. I am leaving for college next week, and was wondering if it is legal for me to copy a season of friends that my family owns to bring with me. I figured this would be the best place to ask.

    thank you

    Hi

    1) yes (but what a waste of DL's) cheaper to copy to SL (the pictures)

2)The legality. We here at aD can help you with all the techical knowledge to back up you own copy of a commercial dvd (as reason to keep the origional pristine and undamaged in use). The MPAA whould have you believe that all backing up is illegal. While in the US, it is still unclear, as the highest court has not made a ruling on this issue yet. Suffice it to say, if some one did make a back up copy (of their personal store bought dvds) for personal use and told no one. Who is the wiser ? just my thoughts

Google the EFF, they may better help you with legal advice in this area (they are lawyers on our side). Here's a link
