i know this subject has been on this site many many times but i'm still having trouble understanding it has i'm still quite new to all of this. i have a modded xbox and a toshiba laptop. i want to connect them to send files to my xbox,i'm using a crossover cable my xbox ip is static and my pc ip is my xbox's default gateway and the same on the pc's.when i connect i get connected but it always says connection lost what am i doing wrong also is there another way of putting files in my xbox by disc. if anyone can help you would be saving me alot of money as someone is trying to charge me fifty quid to do this job.
to ftp to your box you need to do the following.... note xbox ip set .... use static ip... option in xbox to yes on your pc go to control panel and choose network settings right click on local aera connection and go to properties there should be an option called internet protocoltcp/ip... double click this .. now set the ip address 3 higher than the xbox ip... eg xbox ip.... 192.168.1.200..... pc ip should be set as ... 192.168.1.203.... the subnet mask should now be the same for xbox and pc.... click ok on your xbox set default gateway to whatever you set your pc ip to... ie 192.168.1.203 save and exit and reboot box... pc should notice connection.... now open whichever ftp proggie your using... ie quix... flash fxp....craxtion and connect
another thing i forgot to mention is that you will need whats known as a cross over cable... same as an rj45 cable except that the wires on each end are crossed over.... just ask at any good computer store for a crossover cable and they will know what you need
