Hi evryone there, I'm new in this site and would like to start by asking you if anyone can help me to solve a problem I got wit a _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A DELL OEM When I place a blank DVD-R THE DEVICE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT, I don't know why it doesn't allow me to burn an image I already made with nero, hope you can help me. Good luck
keiser180 , Welcome to the forum. Have you updated the firmware for the burner so it will recognize the blank media you are using. Site below lists the Dell update or you could try the Dell Website to see if it has the update there. Make sure that you are using the correct update so you do not make that burner toast http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=23
thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately it didn't work, I doen load a firm update but its still don't working, but someone told that maybe the problem wasn't the device but the discs, I'm using DVD-R discs on a DVD+R device, I'll try to get those disc correct and let you know what happened, thanks again and good luck.
Hi there, Give us more details on what you are using. What brand of media ? What's the media ID on them ? VSO Inspector v1.1 --> http://www.vso-software.fr/ or DBDInfoPro --> http://www.dvdinfopro can provide you with the Media ID. It will also show us the Firmware of your drive. Latest firmware for your drive is: 10GE http://support.dell.com/support/dow...dhs&releaseid=R59801&formatcnt=1&fileid=73793 Direct File Download --> http://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/R59801.EXE If you burned with Nero, provide us with a FULL Log. (Don't forget to remove your serial # from the log, on top) Keep us posted...
I download the update from dell but it does not find the drive, I will post the log from VSO so maybe it will help you to help me, thanks. keiser180, W/ that drive you have to use + DVD's and not - DVD's to write to. It will read a -DVD and a +DVD. Change the blank media to either 2.4X + or 4X +dvd's. It can use 8X+DVD but it will only burn at the max of 4X
I'll get some DVD+R discs to give it a try, but what I just notice is that when I insert a movie DVD it doesn't recognize it either, do you know why is this happening too? & Thanks for the advise. Good Luck.
keiser180, Go to Device Manager and find the DVD burner. Right click on it and uninstall the burner. Re-boot and see if Windows reinstalls it properly. If that fails open the case and make sure the cables are connected correctly
Hello keiser180, Your burner has the latest firmware already, it's at 10GE already. Ya, this drive is a little older, and will not write to DVD-R media We are so used to dual format drives these days, we kinda forget some older drives only do DVD+R media !!!
guys, see this other NEC 1100A thread - some improvements could be made by transforming the drive into a 1300A - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/211890
Thanks for all your help guys, I'll never forget it, after all I looks that I will need to used only DVD+R discs, but I'm thinking on getting a brand new one DVD recorder, thanks again and good luck to all.
