    keiser180 ,
Welcome to the forum. Have you updated the firmware for the burner so it will recognize the blank media you are using. Site below lists the Dell update or you could try the Dell Website to see if it has the update there. Make sure that you are using the correct update so you do not make that burner toast

    keiser180,
W/ that drive you have to use + DVD's and not - DVD's to write to. It will read a -DVD and a +DVD. Change the blank media to either 2.4X + or 4X +dvd's. It can use 8X+DVD but it will only burn at the max of 4X

I'll get some DVD+R discs to give it a try, but what I just notice is that when I insert a movie DVD it doesn't recognize it either, do you know why is this happening too? & Thanks for the advise. Good Luck.

    keiser180,
Go to Device Manager and find the DVD burner. Right click on it and uninstall the burner. Re-boot and see if Windows reinstalls it properly. If that fails open the case and make sure the cables are connected correctly

    Hello keiser180,

Your burner has the latest firmware already, it's at 10GE already.

Ya, this drive is a little older, and will not write to DVD-R media

We are so used to dual format drives these days, we kinda forget some older drives only do DVD+R media !!!
