Well, I modded my PS2 V7 with a Magic V, this for me was a simple task.........its what I do best. I started my PS2, everything looked ok. I have two known good DVDR's I try one works first time, BUT when I try a second a get the black screen problem....and even stranger if I leave my PS2 for a few mins switched off, and then start again it works fine again, with any type of disk. What the hell is going on?????(It needs a rest??) before you ask, I have used a shielded wire for R the correct gauge of wire for 3.3v and GND and all the joints look good, I have even redone most of them again! Can ANYONE try to help me??? Cheers
something might be overheating maybe? since you say that after you leave it off for sometime (cools off) and it works. maybe the ps2 was put back together wrong?
Did the problem only happen the once or does it re-occur? If only once then you may have just had a glitch - this sometimes happens when you first install a chip. If it has not occured again I would not stress about it. You may try gently tilting your station one way and back again and listen for loose rolling bits or solder etc - these nasty buggers can do all sorts of damage. Ensure no wires are being crimped when the shield plate is replaced and also make sure all ribbon cables are correctly and firmly inserted. That is about all I can recommend if you are 100% sure that your wireing is good and flat to the main board.
