I have a Sony str-de485 ampifier that is giving me problems.I have a intermittent problem ,being that my speakers are cutting out on certain occasions be it on low or high volumes. When this does occur I hear the amplifier making a soft clicking noise and then I would lose a channel or channels and then a while later without me doing anything the channels would play again. The speaker connections on the amplifier are of the spring type. The bare wires from the speakers going into the amp still look ok.I don't have any idea what could be the problem.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

the first thing to test for would be a short in the speaker cables. this is the most likely cause. disconnect the current wires and put in new ones. even if the ends going to the speakers and amp looks okay, and aren't touching each other, the cable could have gotten cut or twisted somewhere in between. so try new speaker cable. if that is not the problem, well then there is most likely something wrong with the amplification circuit inside the amp and it is shorting out internally. if its still under warranty it should be covered.
