Sony battery or fake ?

Need to buy a spare battery for my Sony DCR-HC62E mini-dv camera.
The Sony ones are retailing at silly prices (£80 in Jessops ! ).
Although they are £35 on one Amazon store.
This is in comparison to non-Sony types that can be had for less than £20.

I have read a coupel of 'scare' stories about non -Sony batteries not now working on Sony cameras.

So , do 'fakes' still work, and would you buy one anyway ?
