i work in retail and we have all kinds of problems with the lower end Sony and Samsung players. i don't know what it is but i have seen a similar problem. If you end up having to buy a new one(hope you can get it working) get a ps3(ultimate for any media) or any of the Panasonic players.Good price for great reliability and decent features. of all the ones we sold not one has come back in over 6 months. Good luck

Did you do the update via CD/USB, or did you use a strait Ethernet connection? Sometimes the firmwares on the website are out of date.

I've had the Sony BDP-S550 and I think it was one of the best blu-ray players of 2008/2009. It had gotten a lot of great reviews too. Panasonic and Sony seem to be the best for blu-ray players IMO.

I did it on the net it was version 7 and after i updated it i tried the films again and still no joy, So i went onto the Sony web site and they said that this was the most update version of the softwear.
I will just have to deal with it for now thanks anyway

have u got 1.3 hdmi, if you have acheap one, this may be the cause of your problem. Vivanco Prowire are very good.
