Sony DAV-DZ260 theatre system / sony KDL-32V4000 connection prob

    Hi all,
    ive got a sony DAV-DZ260 dvd home theatre system and a sony bravia KDL-32V4000 LCD tv and am trying to hook up my ps3 and a digital tv receiver(starview box) which has a spdif connection on the back, so that i can get the sound for both through the home theatre system speakers.any help would be sound on how to do this exactly and if it can be done (as ive read many different things) n what leads i need etc

    hello mate did you get this sorted as ive just purchased the ame sony system as u have?

    i may have the same problems!

    You cannot run everything through the tv, then out the optical output to the A/V receiver. They aren't made that way. If it will even pass audio through that way, it will down convert the 5.1 signal, to a 2.0 signal, so you just end up with stereo. The optical output on the tv is for getting 5.1 from your local HD channels, with the built-in tuner, while hooked up with an antenna. That's all it's for.

    Since your A/V system has no video inputs, you'll have to run the video cables straight to the tv. Then for audio, run an optical cable from PS3 to receiver, and digital coax from sat box (if it has one), to receiver. If sat box has only one digital output, and it's an optical, you'll need a switch that will connect two optical sources to one optical input, such as this one: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-980

    There's no way possible, for you to get the HD audio sound from blu ray movies, with the setup you have..........
