Argh, this is now doing my head in! My system: Shuttle XPC AMD Athlon XP 2700 512mb RAM Sony DRU-530A My Sony drive used to work fine, but now whenever I load a DVD into it my PC freezes and I have to reset it. It will not play any DVDs. I have updated the firmware to version 2.1a, I have repaired windows and have all of the updates, I have even re-installed power dvd and the DLA software which you get on the Sony disc. The strange thing is, is that it reads cds without a problem, plays them and burns them. I have no idea what to do now.
Hi, Your ASPI may be corrupted and an update may help: http://www.hazza.dsl.pipex.com/faq.htm#ASPI It also may help to uninstall the drive through Device Manger, reboot, then let Windows detect and install the drive. If that doesn't help, we can go from there
Hi Bhavik, I had the same problem before. Here is how to fix that (At least works for me) 1. Shutdown you computer and remove all the drivers from the IDE cable you hooked up the Sony 530A. and boot it. 2. If everything is fine, shutdown and hook up the Sony 530A only and boot. 3. Try to play DVDs in Sony 530a, it should be OK. 4. Shutdown and hook up the second driver to the IDE cable and boot. 5. repeat 3 again. 6. problem solved but you will probably have new problems soon, what a poor DVD writer and poor technical support too. Please let me know if it works
