Help!! I have a sony DRU 540A that worked until I installed anydvd 5.9.6.1 and clonedvd2 2.8.9. It recognizes cds but will not recognize any dvd media I insert into drive. Not even store bought movies. I have tried the upgrade for the sony dvdrw drive. This has not help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling anydvd to no avail. It is as if it has turned into a cd-rom and not a dvd-rw rom. Can anyone help me with this? Is there anything I can do to get my dvd burner back?
Uninstall the burner itself & let it find itself on restart.. if using XP [usually works]. Win XP has error default & turns itself into PIO mode only if trying to rip a dvd w/ loads of read errors. PIO only mode is bad m'kay , you want it to be DMA Enabled .. this can be found out in options/preferences or in Nero Info Tool
P.S - try using the [bold]enter[/bold] button once in a while too please , it makes it a lot easier to read quickly (lol)
I have uninstall the drivers several times and still the same response. I uninstall and reinstalled the nero that came with the burner. It still does not recognize the dvd burner mode. Only the cd-rom mode. I tried testing it with trying to burn to dvd a copy of a movie I have on my hard drive. It ask for a blank dvd and show the dvd drive as empty. How can it recognize cds and not dvds?
IMHO Sony blows. I had a DRU 710A that was supposed to read EVERY format. Right out of the box it wouldn't read DVD+R's, even after 3 firmware upgrades. At some point during it's life, it one day decided it would read them. Then about two months later it wouldn't read ANYTHING. Even CD's. My buddy has the same drive and his is shot to hell too. Buy a Plextor.
