Sony DVD Camcorder to DVD..... ??

    My buddy has a Sony DVD Camcorder and wishes to take the
    DVD out of the camcorder and drop it into this DVD ROM on the PC, capture that way (to retain quality) and then edit with transition effects etc........ Is this possible?? if so, what software works?

    Editing will hoepfully be done with Pinnacle Studio 10........

    rip the DVD with DVD Decrypter. Its an outdated ripper, but is free and should work fine since there won't be any copy protection. You can then rename the files to .mpeg, however if your editing system doesn't support mpeg-2 files, you won't be able to edit them.
