hi people I bought 10 SONY DVD+R AccuCORE DPR120A3 and i have the same problem over and over again. I backup my DVD when playing them it works fine ONLY towards the end of film when it starts to jump and these green blocky messes up the picture then the film stops this as always happen towards the end of the films i am trying to backup. as for ps2 backup forget it I get invalid ps2 Disk. I thought sony would make good DVD disk i checked the MANUFACTORING ID and its says SONY D11. I use DVD shrink. thanks I have a NEC 2500A
[bold]Since your issues are towards the end of your backups, reduce that target size.[/bold] Reduce your backup target in dvd shrink: Edit Preferences Click on dvd-5 and scroll till you get to custom Enter 4360 mbs next to custom OK. Sony D11: I burned a 25 pack spindle with that code. They were sony +1x-8x and they worked very good. These are made in taiwan.Sony is notorious for using manufacturers in taiwan and austria with the exact same ID code. Since your issues are towards the end of your backups, change that target size. Also keep that burn speed slow,4x at max. Those same sony 1x-8x can burn at 12x and 16x in many newer 16x burners so your 12x burner may also be burning them at 12x if the burn speed is set to max.
I did that but i still get the problem do i have to burn with DVD shrink because I have only 1 DVD drive as before NEC 2500A i have reduce it down to 3700 and still the problem happens always at the end of the film.
Where are you watching those backups on, Stand alone player or pc? If the pixellation shows up on your stand alone, try playing them on your pc and look in the ending to see how it plays. How fast are you burning? Are you using paper/stick on labels?
When I used it on the PC its fine but when i burn it with roxio easy cd and dvd creator 6 at x2.4 speed and then watch it on the stand alone dvd player that when the problem happens. DO you think its the DVDr media i have been reading alot in this forum about Taiyo Yuden and Verbatum they seem the ideal media to backup DVD any idea ?
It could be the media,or it could be your player. Try cleaning the standalone player with a lens cleaner. Many other things can also affect it like different burn engines. A highly compressed backup may also give you trouble. Your pc should play it's own backups, and they should look great. After that,it's up to the stand alones. Can you try downloading dvd decrypter,if you don't have it.It has a burn engine.Trying another burn program will help identify a problem. Let us know if you also have nero on your pc. I really like the verbatim +8x data life plus. It has metal azo dye and is made by mitsubishi. I haven't tried the ty plus media, but the dash is very good. I tend to stick with the plus format, because several of my family and friends stand alones won't play my dash backups.
i personally don't like roxio software, personal preference, i have been using nero along side dvdshrink and dvddecrypter for almost ALL my backups. it's probably me that you've read suggesting TYs and Verbatims and while i agree w/ saugmon, media might or might not be the problem, it could be due to compatibility w/ your stand alones. i use quite a bit of the TY plus format dvd media, while the dash format is good too, i booktype ALL my dvd+r format to dvd-rom before backing up my movies. i just prefer dvd+r over the dvd-r format personally, but, whatever works for you and your standalones...go with what works. good day to you all.
I too am a dedicated dvd+r booktyped dvd-rom user and have had fewer compatability problems with this format than the -r's or +r's (without bitsetting). Genuine Sony media (and most sony of any kind for that matter) is usually good media. Probably the easiest attempt to fix your problem would be to try some good, high quality dvd-r media since -r is more compatable on average than +r. Don't quote me but -r is around 94% compatable where +r is around 88% compatable. I'm not sure about your model but some NEC's are capable of bitsetting with the use of some modified (hacked) firmware.
