SONY DVD RW DRU-510A has just stopped burning most DVD's

Hi all

I have a SONY DVD RW DRU-510A

I've burnt well over 800 DVD's with this drive.

I only burn DVD-R's and use Ridiscs, Riteks (G05.G04,G02's)

The drive was working fine burning G05 Ridiscs 8x discs at its normal 4X.

Suddenly its begins the burn process and then after 5% completion ist just freezes and gives me a disc read error message.


Strangely enough this only happens when trying to back up DVD movies.

When i burn data discs eyc photos etc it works.

I use Recordnow DX

any help would be much appreciated

I upgraded to SONY DVD RW DRU510A 1.1a firmware and had problems burning DVDs. So after about 7 failed DVDs, I downgraded to 1.0d and everything works great!
