Sony dvd rw dw-g120a problem

    Hi all
    Please can you help, my 11yr old has a e-system103a & I installed a sony g120a dvd drive in to it just over a year ago but now I have a problem which I hope all you guys can HELP. I install any disc nothing happens, I go to device manager & I get a message cannot load device driver may be corrupted or missing. Please can someone point me in the right direction as I only have a few days.

    when something like this happens, where are device was working properly before and now it's not..... the best thing to do is do a System Restore to when it was working! Go START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/SYSTEM RESTORE........ Choose a restore point..... Before you go ahead and do the System Restore make sure you save things that might be lost because you are going back in time to when you had your computer running properly. I would save MY PICTURES and/or MY DOCUMENTS/MY MUSIC and such before you do the System Restore!Also remember if you installed a program and now you are going back in time before that program was installed.... make sure you can reinstall the program again!! But this should make your settings and drivers work again to enable the drive to run proplery! Good luck and I hope this has helped! come back and let us know.

    I just thought of another thing..... you can go into Device Manager to CD/DVD drives and right click on it to UNINSTALL it! then reboot and Windows should reinstall the drive automatically! If this doesn't help then do a System Restore, as stated above!

    Right click onto MY COMPUTER/PROPERTIES/HARDWARE tab/DEVICE MANAGER/DVD/CD ROM DRIVES and uninstall the problem drive....... then reboot computer.... Windows will reinstall drive..... hope this helps.

    if your uninstall-reinstall doesn't work...... When you did install the drive.... did it come with an installation disk? If so uninstall and reinstall with the disk! if this is not possible go to the Sony website and look up your drive for the needed drivers to download.

    I have tryed to get new driver but all that I can find is a flash drive (MYS6WIN) but when I try to flash I get ERROR NO MATCH DRIVE DETECTED ! This is only for SONY DVD RW DW-G120A DRIVE.) Which is installed on the e-130a.

    and you can't do a system restore??

    No it will only let me go to March 2008,

    hey...... you don't have to go back that far do you??? when was the last time your drive was working properly???? You mean to tell me that you have been without a burner for over 3 months??????

    That is the problem I dont know when it was working last. I doing system restore now to March I let you know.

    I don't know what else to do other than buying a new drive and install with it's installation disk. Make sure it has one!

    or........... you can reinstall WINDOWS!!!! But be away you might have to reinstall programs and you might loose My Pictures/My Music/My Documents! make sure you save EVERYTHING YOU REALLY WANT before you do a full Windows Reinstall..... and ...... then of course you'll have hours of Windows updates! good luck to you!
