    hi

i have the sony dw-u10a dvd drive, a dvd burner that is the unsupported OEM version of sony's dru-500a.

the supported drive has firmware upgrades available to it on sony's site that will allow the user to burn dvds at the 4x setting, instead of the measily 2.4x.

my question is whether or not the u10a has a firmware upgrade somewhere?

i've tried the real deal, here:
    http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru500adwn.htm
but the updater tells me i don't have any drives compatible with the update program.

    any help?

i was gonna reply to a similar thread, below, but i didn't have high enough member status:

I don't think the OEM's have any firmware updates. I got the DW-22A OEM, no firmware for it and its not a problem either.
