Hi, I think you mean oem which stands for "original equipment manufacturer". i.e. the drive is not intended for direct sale to the consumer, rather for pc manufacturers to build into their systems which are then sold to the consumer. Therefore these drives generaly come with little in the way of software or cables etc and the warranty and support are assumed to be supplied by the OEM, not the manufacturer. Therefore they tend to be much cheaper than the consumer versions. Hope that makes a little sense ;-) DocBot
