Hi all, last year, I bought a DWU10A and has the firmware flashed to DRU-500 or something.. and I have been happy with it...

Now, I need to buy another burner for another computer and I am thinking of getting a Sony again.

    Since speed isn't really matters

I have heard all Sony's burners were made by LiteOn (DWU10A and 14A) while the new one, DWU18A, is made by Optorite.

I heard rumor that the old Sony (made by LiteOn) is much better then the new Sony (made by Optorite)

    I wonder this is true

    TIA

    BH

    Hiya,

I would highly recommend considering the Pioneer 107 ($110 OEM) over any of the Sonys. Pioneer is a higher quality and better performing make than Sony.

    Hope this helps :)
